Job description

Coveris is a leading global manufacturer, creating high performance and technically engineered packaging solutions. At our Winsford site, we produce polythene film for a range of established customers across multiple industries including agricultural, industrial, and food based.

We are recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer to join our Engineering department. Working as part of a team, the successful candidate will provide breakdown and maintenance cover on a varied range of plastic film producing machinery and ancillary support equipment. The successful candidate will work on a 4 on, 4 off shift rota working 2 days, 7am till 7pm, followed by 2 nights, 7pm till 7am. The salary for this role begins at £44,983 per annum. Progression is both achievable and encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

1. To ensure that all equipment on site is in a safe condition and complies with current Health & Safety Legislation.
2. To respond to machine faults across site, as directed by the Engineering Cell Managers / Production Cell Manager / Extrusion Cell Leader.
3. To complete Planned Preventative Maintenance as directed by Engineering Management.
4. To complete breakdown and maintenance records for all work undertaken on site.
5. To interact with onsite Engineering stores personnel, to include but not be restricted to, booking parts out of stores, assisting in sourcing alternative parts where the original is not available, returning unused parts to stores.
6. To take part in meetings, supervision, training as requested.
7. To undertake other duties commensurate to the grade of the post.

Skills and Experience

1. A recognised Multi Skilled Engineering apprenticeship to ONC/HNC or equivalent Engineering qualification.
2. Worked in FMCG environment for a minimum of 3 years.
3. Working knowledge of electrical controls (PLCs, Contractors, Relays, VSDs, etc.).
4. Working knowledge of weighing and tension systems (Load cells etc.).
5. An understanding of pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
6. Experience of engineering systems to include planned preventative maintenance.
