Job summary

A1 Jobs Ltd is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to support the Site’s Operations Team in Weston-super-Mare. You will help maximise machine uptime, drive both short- and long-term reliability improvements, and contribute to safety and quality standards across the engineering function.

You will work with multiple departments, lead breakdown resolution, support preventive maintenance plans, and liaise with OEMs to implement effective solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in an FMCG environment.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Strong literacy and numeracy with attention to detail.
• Proficient IT skills and SAP PM knowledge.
• Good diagnostic abilities and problem-solving.
• Team player able to work across departments and with Engineering cell technicians.
• Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, steam and mechanical drive systems.
• Hands-on fault finding on AC drives (Siemens, ABB, SSD etc).
• Knowledge of Siemens S5/S7 and Allen Bradley PLCs.
• Able to prioritise own workload.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Engineering, Conversion, Corrugator and Despatch teams.
• Lead the completion of all breakdown activities.
• Support daily preventive maintenance strategy.
• Book out & order engineering parts.
• Liaise with OEMs as needed.
• Implement preventive/predictive maintenance tools and ideas (SAP PM).
• Engage in daily mechanical and electrical tasks enabling machine reliability.
• Take on other tasks as directed by your line manager.

Main Purpose of Job

Working within the engineering department with the key responsibility for providing a proactive engineering service to the Site’s Operations Team. The role is focused around increasing machine uptime within shift, while supporting SK’s safety and quality standards. The individual will be responsible for providing effective short and long-term solutions to continuously improve machine reliability, actively contributing as part of the engineering team to achieve business targets and key performance criteria.

Main Duties

• Work in a collaborative style with the Engineering, Conversion, Corrugator and Despatch departments
• Lead the successful completion of all breakdown activities
• Assist in the daily preventative maintenance strategy
• Booking out & ordering engineering parts
• Liaise with OEM’s when required
• Implement and endorse preventative / predictive maintenance systems, tools and ideas (SAP PM)
• Daily involvement in completing mechanical & electrical engineering activities providing support/coaching for machine operatives
• Any other tasks requested by your line manager within your capabilities

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working within a FMCG work environment
• Good communicator with effective listening skills to all parties, internal & external

• Good level of IT skills & ability to gain a good understanding of SAP PM
• Driven & self- motivated with good diagnostic skills
