Job summary

A leading food manufacturer in Burton Latimer is seeking a Multi Skilled Shift Engineer to ensure equipment reliability and address maintenance needs. Candidates should demonstrate strong mechanical and electrical skills, preferably with engineering qualifications. The role includes delivering planned maintenance and troubleshooting production issues within a 24/7 shift pattern. Qualifications

• Demonstrable mechanical and electrical knowledge through training and experience.
• Good solution-finding experience.
• Good IT experience to include the use of Computer Maintenance Management Systems.
• Proficient IT skills including CMMS usage.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering guidance to production, resolving breakdowns and assisting with priority engineering issues.
• Deliver planned maintenance to sustain the reliability of assets.
• Effectively diagnose and repair plant equipment to component level.
• Assist external contractors and ensure adherence to safety procedures.
• Identify reliability improvements and support CI projects.
• Handover effectively to the incoming team and mentor colleagues.

Shift pattern: 24/7 Panama Shift Pattern, 6am-6pm and 6pm-6am alternative weekends

The Recipe (About the Role)

We are looking for a Multi Skilled Shift Engineer to join our Weetabix team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring equipment reliability, taking charge of reactive repairs, preventive maintenance activities, and fostering continuous improvement in our around-the-clock operations. As part of a highly trained team, you'll have the opportunity to help multiple facilities and make a real impact!

• Provide engineering guidance to production, resolving breakdowns and assisting with the resolution of priority engineering issues.
• Deliver planned maintenance to sustain the reliability of our assets.
• Work with minimal guidance, with the ability to resolve problems.
• Work to company practices, procedures and rules to ensure health & safety, food safety and legal compliance are upheld.
• Assist external contractors providing additional help for reactive activities, to ensure company practices, procedures and rules are understood and adhered to.
• Have familiarity with working on a wide variety of engineering assets.
• Effectively diagnose and repair plant equipment to component level (excluding high voltage and gas).
• Escalate all equipment issues which cannot be effectively resolved to the appropriate functions.
• Identify opportunities to improve the reliability of assets and engineering working processes.
• Assist with Improvement projects, identifying engineering root causes and complete CI project work actions.
• Complete effective handover to the oncoming team.
• Provide training and guidance to engineers, operators and apprentices.

Key Skills

• Demonstrable mechanical and electrical knowledge through training and experience.
• Engineering Qualification or apprenticeship (HNC or above preferred).
• Good solution-finding experience.
• Good IT experience to include the use of Computer Maintenance Management Systems.

Desirable Skills

• Engineering experience in a food manufacturing environment. PLC experience preferred.
