Job summary

Keys in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Grounds & Property Maintenance operative to support a wide range of tasks around Honeybrook House, providing a well-maintained, safe environment for vulnerable children.

You will be responsible for the upkeep of the school grounds, compliance checks, and a variety of maintenance duties, with contractor coordination and project planning to occur during school holidays whenever possible.

Qualifications

• Able to work effectively without direct supervision.
• Organised, pragmatic, and solutions-focused.
• Desirable: Experienced multi-skilled maintenance operative.
• Desirable: Previous experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the school site and grounds to ensure safety and presentation.
• Record and carry out statutory and routine safety checks (fire alarm, emergency lighting, playground equipment, Legionella).
• Perform maintenance tasks such as carpentry, plumbing, decorating, and general repairs as directed by the Head Teacher.
• Plan and manage a rolling programme of decoration and refurbishment, timing projects for school holidays where possible.
• Supervise contractors on site, ensuring health and safety compliance and quality of work.
• Keep access to premises safe, clear pathways, and assist with weather-related maintenance including gritting and snow clearance.
• Support Estates Team with other duties as required.
