Job Opportunity: Highway Maintenance Operative

We are seeking enthusiastic and capable colleagues to join our Highway Operations team, which is part of the Highway Network Management.

The successful candidate will, as part of a team or individually, undertake maintenance and construction of roads, footways, verges, street furniture, and highways drainage. The role also involves ensuring that our Service culture of performance, safety, and quality is embedded within the team. Key responsibilities include:

1. Providing a customer-focused service with excellent personal conduct and communication skills.
2. Completing all works within the required timescales.
3. Carrying out work effectively to minimize disruption to all road users within the District.
4. Performing work safely and to specification.

This is a career grade position offering an excellent opportunity for development into a skilled and valuable employee. Progression through several incremental pay grades is possible as you undertake further training, demonstrate increased competence, and take on more responsibilities.

The starting salary will be determined based on your skills and qualifications aligned with the job specifications.

Additional earning opportunities are available through participation in a Winter Maintenance Standby Rota/Gritter Driving, which requires an LGV license. Training will be provided if needed.
