Job summary

Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick in Wirral is seeking Multi-Skilled Operatives to join our sheet metal workshop, supporting fabrication and manufacturing for major UK infrastructure projects.

You will train to operate machinery safely, handle manual tasks, assist sheet metal workers, and help with goods-in/out and dispatch, all while upholding safety, teamwork and our Values.

Qualifications

• Experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment preferred.
• Able to work in a hands-on, physical setting.
• Committed to following processes, instructions and safety procedures.
• Capable of manual handling of materials.

Responsibilities

• Operate fabrication process machinery (drilling, cutting, punching) after training.
• Use workshop hand tools and power tools (grinders, drills).
• Assist sheet metal workers with daily manufacturing tasks.
• Carry out manual handling of products and steel materials.
• Prepare and clean materials for dispatch and shipping.
• Support logistics with goods-in and goods-out activities.
• Undertake additional tasks with training as needed.
• Maintain a focus on safety and Balfour Beatty values.

About the role

Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick are looking for Multi-Skilled Operatives to join our manufacturing facility in Wirral. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a skilled team supporting the delivery of major infrastructure projects across the UK.

As a Multi-Skilled Operative, you will work within a busy sheet metal workshop environment, supporting a range of manufacturing and fabrication activities. You will receive training to operate machinery and equipment safely whilst contributing to the efficient production and delivery of high-quality products.

What you'll be doing

• Operate fabrication process machinery, including drilling, cutting and punching machines following appropriate training.
• Use workshop hand tools and power tools, including grinders and drills.
• Assist sheet metal workers with day-to-day manufacturing activities.
• Carry out manual handling of products and steel materials.
• Prepare and clean materials ready for dispatch and shipping.
• Support the logistics team with goods-in and goods-out activities.
• Undertake additional tasks as required, with training provided where necessary.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, sustainability and Balfour Beatty values.

Who we're looking for

• Self-motivated and eager to learn.
• Experienced in a fabrication or manufacturing environment (preferred).
• Able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Committed to following processes, instructions and safety procedures.
• Comfortable working in a hands-on environment involving manual handling activities.
• Hold a Forklift Certificate (desirable but not essential).
