We are looking for a Multi Skilled Operative to join our friendly team based at Tarmac Hints Sand and Gravel Quarry, Tamworth, Staffordshire. As well as Tamworth, this site is also easily accessible from Lichfield, Burntwood, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Atherstone, Little Aston, Aldridge, Walsall, Bloxwich, Great Wyrley, Rugeley, Burton-on-Trent, Nuneaton, and the surrounding areas.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting to the Section Manager, the role of Multi Skilled Operative is part of a key team of operatives producing dry aggregate material for the construction industry. As well as delivering best-in-class health, safety, environmental, and quality performance for our plant operations, you will specifically focus on operational tasks including:

1. Working with aggregates on site and operating machinery and mobile plant (including loading shovels)
2. Weighbridge duties
3. Day-to-day maintenance of the plant, maintaining high standards of housekeeping
4. Training and operation on static plant to help optimize plant performance
5. Working as part of a small team to ensure customers receive quality material and on-time deliveries
6. Ensuring plant availability is maximized
7. Assisting the Section Manager in meeting production targets
8. Maintaining a culture of zero harm and behavioral safety
9. Compliance with health and safety measures around the site

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the Multi Skilled Operative role will have proven experience, preferably in a similar aggregates, industrial, or factory environment as an operative or labourer.

Suitable candidates will also demonstrate:

1. Experience working within a health and safety-focused environment
2. Good timekeeping and time management skills
3. Experience operating mobile plant, including loading shovels (preferred)
4. Knowledge of risk assessments (ideally in an operational role)
5. A flexible attitude and willingness to work as part of an effective multi-skilled team, adapting to different tasks
6. A self-motivated approach and ability to motivate colleagues
7. Good communication skills
8. Knowledge and experience of the industry, mobile plant, and quarrying (training can be provided)
9. Full UK driving license
10. IT literacy
11. Shovel license (preferred but not essential)
