Job summary

Mears Group is seeking a skilled Multi-Skilled Operative to support a busy responsive repairs contract in Rotherham. The role covers a range of trades including carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, and decorating, with focus on safety and quality in residents' homes.

You will manage day-to-day repairs across occupied properties, record work details, and participate in out-of-hours calls as required, ensuring high customer service standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance across multiple trades (e.g. plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating).
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload in occupied homes.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day responsive repairs across social housing properties.
• Replacing or repairing bathroom installations and level access showers.
• Installing and adjusting bathroom units; fixing minor plumbing issues.
• Carrying out patch plastering and making good walls/ceilings.
• Completing wall and floor tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing.
• Painting and decorating to a professional finish after repairs.
• Work in occupied properties with sensitivity to residents’ needs and privacy.
• Record job details and materials used using handheld devices.
• Maintain tools and company vehicle in good condition.
• Participate in out-of-hours emergency rota as required.

This is a dynamic, hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance across a range of trades, ensuring residents’ homes are safe, functional, and well cared for.You’ll be working across occupied properties, responding to day-to-day repair requests that cover carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, and more. No two days are the same, and your ability to adapt, problem-solve, and deliver excellent customer service will be key to your success.With a strong pipeline of work and a commitment to improving social housing standards, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team that’s making a real difference in the community.
