Job summary

Mears Group is seeking a Multi Skilled Operative to join our team in Norwich. You will perform hands-on maintenance across void social housing properties, tackling carpentry, plumbing, plastering and tiling tasks to keep homes safe and functional.

You will work across reactive repairs, with a strong emphasis on quality, problem-solving, and excellent customer service. A full UK driving licence and willingness to participate in an out-of-hours rota are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience across multiple trades in domestic repairs.
• Ability to diagnose and fix faults across carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and decorating.
• Strong customer-service ethic and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Carry out responsive repairs across void social housing properties.
• Replace/repair skirting boards, architraves and internal door frames.
• Install/adjust kitchen units, worktops and cupboard doors; repair/replace doors, handles, locks and hinges.
• Identify and fix minor plumbing issues such as leaks or dripping taps.
• Carry out patch plastering and make good damaged walls/ceilings; tile repairs and grouting.
• Paint and decorate to a professional standard after repairs; ensure safety and quality.
• Record job details using handheld devices or job sheets; maintain tools and vehicle.
• Participate in out-of-hours emergency repair rota as required.

This is a dynamic, hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance across a range of trades, ensuring residents’ homes are safe, functional, and well cared for.You’ll be working across void properties, responding to repair requests that cover carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, and more.
