Job summary

Tarmac is seeking a Multi Skilled Operative for our Wellington Sand and Gravel Quarry in Hereford. The role covers all plant operations and daily production target achievement, with responsibilities across quality, safety, and housekeeping.

The position attracts candidates from nearby towns and requires a flexible, proactive attitude. We offer extensive training, career progression, and a supportive environment at a leading sustainable materials company.

Qualifications

• Previous plant operational experience.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Forklift truck and loading shovel licences preferred (training will be provided).
• Flexible with a can-do attitude and proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all operational activities within a manufacturing environment.
• Meet daily production targets.
• Support site KPIs including quality and health & safety.
• Carry out basic operator-led maintenance alongside the site fitter.
• Maintain site housekeeping and high standards of cleanliness.
• Assist in delivering excellent customer service with good quality material and on-time deliveries.
• Perform plant inspections and routine housekeeping tasks.
• Ensure stocks are replenished and maintained to good levels.

We are currently looking for a Multi Skilled Operative to join ourteam at Tarmac Wellington Sand and Gravel Quarry in Hereford . This role is accessible from Worcester, Leominster, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Ledbury, Leominster, Ludlow, Malvern, Craven Arms, Kidderminster, Tenbury Wells, Bewdley, Monmouth, Ross-on-Wye, Cinderford and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility

• All operational activities within a manufacturing environment
• Meeting daily production target requirements
• Supporting all site KPI’s including quality, Health and Safety, site housekeeping
• Supporting and working alongside our site fitter on basic operator lead maintenance
• Housekeeping and delivering excellent site standards.
• Working with a team focused on great customer service, especially providinggood qualitymaterial and on-time deliveries to a varied customer base
• Carrying out inspections on the plant and carry out housekeeping tasks and basic daily maintenance
• Ensuring stocks are replenished andmaintainedto good levels

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Multi Skilled Operative will have previous plant operational experience. You will also:

• Be flexible and able todemonstratea can do attitude
• Possess initiative and be able to think for themselves
• Hold a full UK driving Licence
• Be a team player and an affective communicator
• Ideally to have a forklift truck and loading shovel licence (training will be given to the right candidate)
• Have a good attitude towards Health and Safety and the environment
• Hard working and willing to learn new skills

Tarmac will provide extensive Training for the right person, and on completion the candidate will be eligible for career progression.
