Job summary

Mears Group PLC in Croydon is seeking a Multi Skilled Operative to perform a variety of property maintenance tasks across domestic properties. The role includes carpentry, painting, plastering, brickwork, tiling, and plumbing, with a focus on high-quality repairs and installations.

You will work 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a salary up to £42,020.69 per annum plus a company van and fuel card. A full UK driving licence and ability to work independently are required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance across multiple trades (carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating).
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day responsive repairs across tenanted social housing properties.
• Replace or repair skirting boards, architraves, and internal door frames.
• Install and adjust kitchen units, worktops, and cupboard doors.
• Repair or replace internal doors, handles, locks, and hinges.
• Identify and fix minor plumbing issues such as leaks, dripping taps, and blocked sinks.
• Carry out patch plastering and make good damaged walls or ceilings.
• Complete wall and floor tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing.
• Paint and decorate to a professional finish following repair works.
• Ensure all repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
• Work in occupied properties with sensitivity to residents’ needs and privacy.
• Record job details, materials used, and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good working order.
• Manage daily workload to meet service level targets.

We are looking for a Multi Skilled Operative to join our team in Croydon you will be carrying out a variety of property maintenance tasks, including carpentry, painting, plastering, brickwork, tiling, silicone/mastic works, groundworks and minor plumbing in Void properties. The role requires a delivering high-quality repairs and installations across domestic properties.

Duties

• Manage daily workload efficiently to meet service level targets

Role Criteria

• Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance across multiple trades (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating)
• Full UK driving licence
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Excellent customer service skills, with experience working in occupied homes
• Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices
• Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems to record work
