Salary: £47,521 - £49,940 (after 3 months) per annum.
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday with 1 out of 4 Saturdays.
Week one: 06:45 - 14:45
Week two: 14:30 - 22:30
The Role
The Multi Skilled Technician will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems within the MBT facility.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled and reactive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and automated systems including conveyors, shredders, pumps, fans, and other waste processing equipment.
- Diagnose faults, identify root causes, and implement solutions to minimise disruptions.
- Carry out electrical installations and repairs on control systems, motor circuits, switchgear, and PLC systems, ensuring safety compliance.
- Maintain and repair mechanical systems such as hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, motors, bearings, and rotating machinery.
- Develop and follow preventative maintenance schedules to improve equipment reliability.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, conduct risk assessments, and ensure safe maintenance practices.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, fault findings, parts used, and schedules; update supervisors regularly.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and safety.
Requirements
Essential qualifications and experience include:
- Backgrounds such as Maintenance Engineer, Multiskilled Engineer, Electrical or Mechanical Technician, Maintenance Electrician, Shift Engineer, or Maintenance Fitter.
- Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Industrial Electrical Maintenance Certificate of Competence.
- Hands-on experience with centrifugal, progressive cavity, and rotary lobe pumps.
- Experience with conveyor belts and screw conveyors.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Basic electrical engineering skills.
- Experience with compressors, motors, and gearboxes.
