JDR Cable Systems Ltd in Blyth is recruiting a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician to join our new Cambois facility. You will maintain and repair high‑volume manufacturing equipment, including rotating equipment, stranders, extrusion lines and carousels, to keep production running at maximum efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Time served in a multi-skilled discipline; ONC/City & Guilds level 3 or equivalent.
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing with TPM/PPM maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings; understanding lean manufacturing (5S).

Responsibilities

  • Safety first: adhere to JDR safety policies and procedures.
  • Define, plan, perform and document maintenance activities using the site CMMS and related systems.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out planned maintenance and repairs on all plant/equipment; return to service.
  • Estimate time required to complete a job and assess consequences of delays.
  • Identify and escalate activities that could cause harm or downtime.
  • Assist in developing and following PPM schedules; provide feedback to improve the system.
  • Supervise external contractors and vendors, review risk assessments and method statements, manage permits and isolations.
  • Attend training courses to keep skills up to date and contribute to continuous improvement.

As JDR's expansion into Blyth continues to progress, we are looking to recruit a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in the startup of JDR’s brand new facility in Cambois, Blyth.

Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, the Maintenance Technicians will maintain and repair equipment within designated areas to ensure that production priorities are met, and equipment performs to its optimum capacity. Equipment includes rotating equipment, stranders, extrusion lines, armourers and carousels.

The successful candidate will work to strict safety and quality requirements to ensure that the machinery used to manufacture our product are running to their maximum efficiency and output. Included will be total preventative maintenance (TPM) and managing breakdowns, along with responding to technical issues affecting production and maintain mechanical services through Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).

Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, the main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Safety First – promotes and adheres to the JDR safety policies and procedures.
  • Define, plan, perform and document all maintenance activities utilizing the site CMMS system and other appropriate systems
  • Carry out diagnosis of faults, planned maintenance and repairs to all types of plant and equipment in a safe, timely and professional manner and return equipment to operational service
  • Estimate length of time required to complete a job and likely consequences of failure to complete work within required timescales
  • Identify and escalate any activity that has the potential to cause harm or damage
  • Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults and concerns to management
  • Assist in the development of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
  • Carry out PPM schedules as necessary and planned work orders as required and provide feedback to develop the system
  • Contractor management, supervise external contractors and equipment vendors, reviewing of risk assessments and method statements, completing permits and isolations utilizing site LOTO procedures
  • Attend training courses where necessary to ensure personal job skills keep pace with technical developments
  • Proactively engage in continuous improvement activities relating to productively and safety
  • Develop, follow, review and update documentation such a maintenance plans, task lists, standard operating procedures, change control tasks, equipment service reports, risk assessments and method statements

As either a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician, you will be time served in a Multi-Skilled discipline and/or qualified to ONC, A Levels, City & Guilds level 3, BTec National Diploma Level 3, IVQ Technician Diploma or equivalent NVQ level 3 qualification.

A practical approach to problem solving and substantial experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is also required to be successful in this role along with a commercial understanding of the impact of failure/downtime on production and ultimately customer delivery.

The successful candidate will also be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and hold an understanding of lean manufacturing including the 5S process. In addition, the candidate will be able to work under minimum supervision with the ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels.
