Job Description:

The Position

An exciting opening has arisen for a suitably qualified Multi-Skilled Maintenance Shift Engineer to join ReFood’s team at their state-of-the-art Anaerobic Digestion and Cat 3 transfer station in Dagenham. This is a great opportunity for someone eager to develop their skills within a growing company committed to environmental sustainability. The role offers the chance to work in a dynamic environment, contributing to waste management and renewable energy initiatives.

Responsibilities include:

• Risk assessing all jobs before work begins.
• Performing planned preventative maintenance and lubrication on plant assets such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, and valves.
• Completing reactive maintenance tasks, monitoring site meters, and filling out check sheets.
• Assisting with contractor and third-party asset services and maintaining site housekeeping.
• Logging all maintenance activities accurately.
• Participating in projects, continuous improvement, and adopting modern manufacturing principles.
• Adhering to all health and safety regulations, attending relevant training.
• Installing and maintaining equipment to ensure minimal production interruptions.
• Supporting ad hoc duties and projects as required.
• Performing other duties as reasonably requested by management.

Requirements:

• Recognised apprenticeship certification.
• Minimum CGLI or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in engineering, ideally within the AD industry.
• Knowledge of isolation systems and LOTO procedures (Mechanical and Electrical).
• Dual Skilled Mechanical/Electrical qualification is desirable.
• Experience with centrifugal, lobe, diaphragm, and screw pumps.
• Ability to replace shafts, seals, bearings, pipework, and fittings.
• Confidence in valve replacements and basic pneumatics.
• Comfort working at heights.
• Basic IT skills.
• Flexible approach to working hours.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills at all levels.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
