Job summary

Steve Ball Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer for a Hull manufacturing site. The role involves mechanically repairing and maintaining all plant and equipment with a 4 on / 4 off shift pattern (6am–6pm).

You will diagnose breakdowns, refurbish equipment, set up on site, and liaise with contractors to source parts. Steel/packaging or similar industries are desirable, with an engineering apprenticeship as a baseline.

Qualifications

• Maintenance skills and experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with CMMS and planning preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Mechanically repairing and maintaining plant and equipment to minimise downtime.
• Assist in diagnosing problems from breakdowns and repairs.
• Refurbish plant/equipment according to maintenance plans and during breakdowns.
• Set up and maintain all plant/equipment on site.
• Assist with installation of new plant and equipment and learn processes.
• Record activities (time, materials, spares) in CMMS and report findings.
• Coordinate with contractors/third parties to source parts and improve production.
• Liaise with machine manufacturers to aid fault diagnosis and parts identification.

POSITION : Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

LOCATION : Hull

SALARY AND BENEFITS : £46-£50k + OT, Pension ( up to 10% matched) Health Scheme

THE ROLE

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Multi Skilled Technician/ Engineer to work for an established Manufacturer at their facility in Hull.

Shifts - 4 on / 4 off 6am - 6pm - 12 hour shifts

DUTIES

• Mechanically repairing and maintaining all plant and equipment to ensure downtime is kept to a minimum.
• Assisting in the investigation and diagnosis of problems relating to breakdowns and repairs.
• Undertaking the repair and refurbishment to plant and equipment in accordance with planned maintenance requirements and in breakdown situations.
• Maintenance and setting up of all plant and equipment on site
• Assisting with the installation of new plant and equipment and to obtain sound working knowledge of plant, equipment and processes.
• Reporting and / or recording all activities i.e. time spent, materials and spares used as appropriate on the CMMS
• Liaising with contractors and third parties to source and manufacture parts required to maintain and improve process and production requirements.
• Liaising with machine manufacturers to help aid fault diagnosis and parts identification to maintain optimal plant performance.

YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING

• Engineering apprenticeship.
• Previous experience working as a Multi Skilled Engineer / Technician in a manufacturing environment , specifically within a fast moving environment ( food / packaging or similar)
• Multi Skilled Ideally with Electrical qualifications
