Job description

Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer

Location: Selby, North Yorkshire YO8

Salary: GBP very competitive, plus discretionary annual bonus

Working hours: 12-hour shifts including weekends, 6am to 6pm, with holiday/sickness cover for night shifts as/when required

Commutable from: York, Pocklington, Hull, Goole, Castleford, Pontefract, Leeds, or Tadcaster

Hawk 3 Talent Solutions is working with a well-established manufacturing company based in Selby, North Yorkshire, seeking an experienced Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their team.

The Role

We are looking for experienced Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineers to join a growing engineering team. The successful candidate will provide electrical and instrumentation repair and maintenance services, operate the Electrical Generation Plant, Peaking Generators, Steam Raising Plant, and Water Treatment Plant efficiently and safely, monitor plant conditions, and keep operating costs to a minimum.

Main Responsibilities

Typical Duties Include But Are Not Limited To:

  • Operate daily operations of Boilers, Gas Turbines (CHP plants), and Reverse Osmosis skids
  • Monitor boiler and water treatment plant, adjusting settings as needed
  • Manage the combustion of process gas, adjusting fuel mixes to meet steam and electricity requirements in coordination with Production
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Production teams regarding breakdowns and routine maintenance
  • Perform planned, predictive, and reactive electrical maintenance to ensure equipment operates efficiently
  • Fault find, test, calibrate, install, and commission process instrumentation
  • Isolate electrical plant according to permit to work procedures
  • Diagnose faults and implement rectification solutions
  • Electrical installation and commissioning of machinery and equipment
  • Ensure all work is performed safely, following site safety procedures and trade practices
  • Operate HV switching (training provided)

Skills and Knowledge

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Recognized electrical/C&I engineering apprenticeship, ideally in heavy process industry
  • HNC in electrical/automation discipline or equivalent experience
  • Proven competency in electrical safety, isolation, and panel entry
  • Understanding of electrical schematics and installation requirements
  • Experience in electrical and instrumentation fault diagnosis and repair
  • Experience with instrumentation maintenance
  • HV switching experience or willingness to learn (training provided)
  • Experience operating CHP plants or willingness to learn (training provided)
  • Ability to work independently and organize team tasks as needed
  • Hands-on approach with a commitment to job completion
  • Ability to prioritize workload and adapt flexibly

Working Hours and Salary

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary dependent on experience
  • Overtime paid as required and shift premiums
  • Discretionary annual bonus
  • 22.5 days annual leave inclusive of bank holidays
