Job summary

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a proactive Multi-Skilled Maintenance Craftsperson with an electrical bias to sustain a safe hospital environment. You will perform planned maintenance, respond to defects, and deliver emergency repairs across hospital systems and infrastructure, with weekend hours and an on-call rota.

You will work to BS7671 and NHS HTM standards, operate the Building Management System, coordinate with contractors, and ensure compliance while supporting energy efficiency

Qualifications

• Perform electrical maintenance and repairs to BS7671 and NHS HTM standards.
• Coordinate multi-trade maintenance tasks and small capital works.
• Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota and weekend coverage.

Responsibilities

+ All hours during weekends + https://www.nhsemployers.org/articles/unsocial-hours-payments Core hours are 8am-4pm Monday-Friday and there is an on call rota for 1 in 6 weeks (4pm-8am Monday-Friday, and 48 hours Saturday and Sunday)., As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Craftsperson with an electrical bias, you'll play a vital role in maintaining a safe and efficient environment for patients, staff, and visitors. You'll be responsible for planned preventative maintenance, defect response, and emergency repairs across a wide range of hospital systems and infrastructure.

What You'll Be Doing

• Perform electrical maintenance and repair in compliance with BS7671 and NHS HTM standards.
• Support multi-trade maintenance tasks including minor improvements and capital works.
• Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota to respond to urgent maintenance issues.
• Carry out inspections and commissioning tests, providing a reliable audit trail.
• Operate the Building Management System (BMS) to monitor and control energy usage and equipment.
• Liaise with contractors, manage safety risks, and ensure statutory compliance across all tasks.
