Job summary

D R Newitt & Associates is seeking a Multi Skilled Engineer for a night-shift role (Thu-Sun, 5pm-5am) in a fast-paced food manufacturing site in the UK. You will diagnose and fix electrical and mechanical faults, perform repairs, and contribute to plant reliability from a small engineering team.

The ideal candidate will have strong fault-finding skills, previous FMCG experience, and an apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in engineering. Overtime is available to support production goals.

Qualifications

• Must be apprenticeship qualified or hold an engineering-based NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
• Solid electrical and mechanical fault finding skills.
• Experience in Food Manufacturing or FMCG environments preferred.
• Able to diagnose faults and work on a shift pattern delivering repairs efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Proactively work alone as the sole engineer on site during the night shift.
• Carry out repairs and maintenance to reduce downtime and improve plant reliability.
• Diagnose faults quickly and effectively to minimise production losses.
• Contribute to reliability and continuous improvement projects.
• Communicate downtime and corrective actions to Production and Engineering leadership.
• Record all maintenance activity and downtime in the CMMS system.
• Ensure all work is performed safely to a high standard.

Leading Food Manufacturer require a Multi Skilled Engineer with good Electrical fault finding skills to join their team.

The site has received significant capital investment and they have a clear vision for future growth. The business will invest in upskilling and there is realistic career progression within the wider business. The business will look good on your CV.

The role is Thursday - Sunday Nights (5pm 5am). Overtime is offered.

Role Overview:

• This is a fast paced busy production environment. They require someone with the ability to diagnose and fix electrical and mechanical faults. As you will be working in a small engineering team where your contribution will have a substantial effect on plant performance.

Main duties:

• Ability to proactively work by yourself as you will be the only Engineer on site on this shift pattern
• Carry out repairs and maintenance to help reduce downtime and improve plant reliability
• Diagnose faults quickly and effectively
• Help with reliability and improvement projects
• Communicate effectively with Production and Engineering leadership regarding downtime and corrective actions
• All maintenance activity, downtime will be recorded within the CMMS system
• Work should be completed safely to a high standard

The person:

• Looking for someone with a positive attitude who is proactive.
• Solid Electrical and Mechanical fault finding skills
• Ideally should have previous experience of working within Food Manufacturing or FMCG environments
• Be a natural problem solver who has a mind for getting to the root cause of issues.
• Must be either apprenticeship qualified or hold an engineering based NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
• Ideally have some form of Electrical qualification.
