Job summary

Pilgrim's Europe is seeking a Multiskilled Engineer for our Ruskington site in the United Kingdom. You will provide technical support to correct, prevent and eliminate problems, and work with production during factory start up.

You will ensure adherence to health, safety, environment and hygiene policies and maintain equipment performance, while driving a culture of continuous improvement. The role requires hands-on engineering expertise and strong teamwork across departments.

Qualifications

• Essential: recognised mechanical/electrical engineering qualification and hands-on experience.
• Essential: time-served apprenticeship in food manufacturing or similar.
• Essential: broad knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical, electrical and PLC/inverter assets.
• Essential: strong fault-finding, risk assessment and safe-working practices.
• Desirable: experience with CMMS, PLCs and lean/asset care techniques.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair equipment to meet food safety and quality standards.
• Manage and close out equipment failures, work orders and PPMs.
• Adhere to Health, Safety, Environment and Hygiene policies.
• Support production during startup and reduce downtime.

Job description

We are currently recruiting a Multiskilled Engineer for our Ruskington site. To provide technical support in the correction, prevention and elimination of technical problems for the site. To work with production during factory start up.

Responsibilities

• Responsible that the company Health, Safety, Environment and Hygiene policies are adhered to.
• Responsible for managing and closing out all equipment failures, work orders and PPM jobs.
• Responsible for data entry on to Holistech for all parts used & jobs raised & completed.
• Responsible for housekeeping of all workshop areas and ensuring that the department is audit ready at all times.
• Responsible for your own engineering hand back procedures.
• Ensure all work is carried out to specification and that food safety standards are met.
• Ensure that targets are met using the appropriate technical support in the correction, prevention and elimination of problems.
• Demonstrate a clear teamwork ethos with the Engineering department and across other departments.
• Excellent timekeeping, attendance and adherence to company procedures.
• Chooses the most appropriate method and tools for communication.
• Respond promptly and effectively to ensure quick resolution to any issues to minimize any downtime, quality and efficiency problems.
• Participate constructively as a member of the department, keeping everyone informed and proactively share your knowledge and expertise within the team.
• Understand and contribute using a range of risk assessment techniques in order to ensure safety of plant, equipment and people.

Essential Criteria

• A recognised qualification for mechanical and electrical engineering
• Technical Hands-On Engineering Experience, preferably through recognised time-served apprenticeship within food manufacturing
• Technical qualifications and competence in mechanical/electrical
• BTEC Engineering certificate/equivalent qualification
• Broad Knowledge of Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Mechanical, Electrical & PLC/Inverter Assets
• Skills and capability to logically diagnose and fault find on a variety of equipment/situations.
• Strong experience in ensuring safe working and safe systems of work is utilised and followed.
• Experience of risk assessing maintenance activity and controlling safe working practices
• Experience of working on high hazard equipment & competent in undertaking safe isolation
• Strong evidence of good interpersonal, communications and customer engagement skills
• Specific experience of clarifying priorities to customers in a busy environment
• Proven ability to get the best from a diverse team through a calm and clear approach.
• Ability to engage positively with production to ensure equipment release for maintenance.
• Experience and knowledge of Lean and Asset Care Excellence techniques.
• Experience of Root cause analysis activities.

Desirable Criteria

• Specific experience of Total Productive Maintenance or ‘Operator-Led’ Asset Care
• Knowledge of Statutory Compliance obligations - particularly high-risk utilities topics
• Knowledge and use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
• Ability to interrogate and program PLCs.
• Experience of working with OEM suppliers to drive improve machine performance /reduce costs.
• Knowledge of H.A.C.C.P. System
• Proven track record of mentoring within an engineering team
