Job summary

Chessington World of Adventures is seeking a Multi-Skilled Engineer to help maintain and inspect rides and attractions. You will work on mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, perform preventative maintenance, and support major overhauls during the closed season, contributing to safe, reliable guest experiences.

You will join a skilled engineering team, carrying out diagnostics, rebuilds, and safety-focused repairs while adhering to COSHH and 5S/LEAN practices.

Qualifications

  • ONC, NVQ level 3 or BTEC equivalent gained through an Apprenticeship or college route in engineering
  • Post apprenticeship/qualification experience
  • Inspection experience would be advantageous
  • Full understanding of engineering-related statutory requirements such as COSHH
  • Experience of planned preventative maintenance systems of work
  • The ability to read and use engineering drawings
  • The ability to display problem solving and diagnostic skills
  • Previous work in a theme park environment is not essential, engineering experience gathered in other industries will be equally suitable
  • Have experience of using technical manuals, risk assessments and related documentation

Responsibilities

  • Utilising PPM task plans to carry out daily safety critical inspections upon rides, vehicles and other attractions.
  • Reactive maintenance and repairs, tracked through work order creation and completion.
  • Undertaking of preplanned maintenance, including but not limited to:
  • Strip down and rebuild of attraction vehicles, i.e. trains, cars, boats
  • Strip down and rebuild of mechanical brake assemblies
  • Strip down and resealing of pneumatic cylinders
  • Inspection of mechanical and electrical components
  • Adherence to safety practices and quality standards, such as HSG175
  • Diagnostics and preventative/predictive maintenance
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports and logs in support of ongoing compliance metrics
  • Maintain good workshop standards utilising 5S / LEAN methodologies
  • Assist with auditing and ordering critical spare components for rides and attractions

About the Role

As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you\'ll play a vital role in maintaining the safety, reliability and performance of Chessington\'s rides and attractions. Working as part of a skilled engineering team, you\'ll carry out inspections, planned preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repairs across a wide range of mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment.

From rebuilding ride vehicles and mechanical brake assemblies to maintaining pneumatic systems and supporting annual maintenance programmes, you\'ll be involved in a diverse range of engineering activities throughout the year. During the operational season, you\'ll focus on keeping attractions running safely and efficiently, while the closed season provides opportunities to support major overhauls, refurbishment projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities in this position will change dependent on CWOA\’s operational season and please be aware that some of these responsibilities would be undertaken at height.
