Job summary

Mitie in Basingstoke seeks a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) to cover the council offices. You will carry out planned preventive maintenance, reactive repairs, fault finding and minor project work across electrical and building services, ensuring safe, efficient operations.

You’ll work in a close-knit team, supervise subcontractors, manage permits, complete records in CAFM, and support continuous improvement while participating in out-of-hours call-outs.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
• Experience in commercial building maintenance or facilities management.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with electrical systems and building services plant.
• Good understanding of health and safety legislation and safe systems of work.
• Experience using CAFM systems.
• Competent with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across the site.
• Diagnose faults and undertake repairs on electrical and building services systems.
• Perform statutory inspections, testing and maintenance activities.
• Deliver minor electrical installation and improvement works.
• Support the delivery of small projects and lifecycle works.
• Monitor plant performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Supervise specialist subcontractors and ensure works are completed safely and to a high standard.
• Manage permits to work and ensure site compliance procedures are followed.
• Complete maintenance records and CAFM tasks accurately and on time.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with the client and building occupants.
• Participate in the out-of-hours call-out rota.
• Support wider engineering activities when required.
