Job summary

Sofina Foods is seeking a driven Multi-Skilled Engineer to support maintenance and reliability across our production operations in Malton, North Yorkshire. You will perform proactive maintenance to ensure peak performance while upholding safety and regulatory standards.

The role features a 4 on 4 off pattern (5:30am–5:30pm) with a salary up to £52,000, offering stability and clear progression within a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 qualification in Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge across disciplines.
• Breathing Apparatus and Fire Fighting certification desirable.
• Good understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation.
• Experience with lean manufacturing and TPM methodologies.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Food industry experience with production equipment such as injectors, thermoformers, slicers, grinders, formers.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance across production equipment.
• Ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently, per regulations.
• Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to minimise downtime and improve line efficiency.
• Uphold health, safety and environmental standards.
• Contribute to lean maintenance practices and CI tools.

The Role

Sofina Foods is looking for a driven and experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer to support the performance and reliability of our production operations. You’ll be responsible for the safe, efficient, and proactive maintenance of factory plant and equipment, ensuring we operate at peak performance while maintaining the highest standards in safety and compliance.

With a structured shift pattern and clear progression opportunities, this is a role that offers both stability and long-term potential in a fast‑moving, forward‑thinking environment.

4 on 4 off days (5:30am -5:30pm)

Salary up to £52000

Your Key Responsibilities

• Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance across a range of production equipment
• Ensure all machinery operates efficiently, safely, and in line with regulatory requirements
• Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
• Work closely with production and engineering teams to minimise downtime and improve line efficiency
• Uphold best practices in health, safety, and environmental compliance
• Contribute to lean maintenance practices, including TPM and CI tools

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone with a strong multi skilled background and a proactive, team-oriented mindset.

You’ll Have

• A recognised NVQ Level 3 qualification in Engineering or equivalent
• Solid electrical and mechanical knowledge with the ability to work across disciplines
• Awareness or certification in Breathing Apparatus and Fire Fighting (desirable)
• A sound understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation
• Experience with lean manufacturing and TPM methodologies
• A commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence
• Food experience working with production equipment such as injectors, thermoformers, slicers, grinders, box/carton formers an advantage.
