Job summary

Wates Smartspace Southampton is recruiting an experienced Multi Skilled Engineer to maintain critical facilities under the Hampshire Blue Light contract. You will deliver planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and minor projects while upholding safety, compliance and customer service standards.

The role requires a trade qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC or Building Services (Level 3, 18th edition) and a flexible, multi-skilled approach.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC or Building Services (Level 3, 18th edition).
• Experience in facilities management and delivering PPM/reactive maintenance.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Full UK driving license.
• Good communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across M&E and building fabric.
• Diagnose faults and undertake repairs to minimise downtime.
• Complete statutory compliance checks and routine maintenance.
• Record works using CAFM and mobile tech.
• Support minor works and improvement projects.
• Build relationships with client representatives and end users.
• Participate in out-of-hours call-out rota.

The Opportunity

We are looking to recruit an experienced Multi Skilled Engineer to join our team supporting the Hampshire Blue Light contract based in Southampton.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and customer-focused engineer to play a vital role in maintaining critical facilities that support essential community services. You will be responsible for delivering planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, and minor project works while ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical, electrical and building fabric disciplines.
• Diagnose faults and undertake repairs efficiently to minimise downtime.
• Complete statutory compliance checks and maintenance activities in line with agreed schedules.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
• Accurately record works undertaken using CAFM and mobile technology systems.
• Support the delivery of minor works and improvement projects.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with client representatives and end users.
• Participate in the out-of-hours call-out rota where required.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience working within a facilities management environment.
• Possesses a recognised trade qualification in either Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC or Building Services discipline. (Level 3 and 18th edition, Level 3 Plumbing etc)
• Has strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrates a flexible, multi-skilled approach to maintenance activities.
• Understands statutory compliance and safe systems of work.
• Holds a full UK driving licence.
• Is a strong team player with excellent communication and customer service skills.
