About The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineer to join our team and play a key role within the Engineering division. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to take the next step in their career and join a global business with a £2 billion + turnover.

In this position you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of all site equipment in line with department and operational strategy; whilst also ensuring all engineering activity complies with technical legislation. Strong communication and a proactive hands-on approach are key to this role to drive performance and manage effective working relationships.

Shift: 4 on 4 off, 7am - 7pm & 7pm - 7am (Rotating)

Your key responsibilities will include:

1. Attend breakdowns promptly and make repairs to a world-class standard.
2. Be responsible for the recording and booking out of parts used and diagnostics of each breakdown.
3. Complete regular machine maintenance programmes to reduce packing downtime and complete relevant paperwork.
4. Identify ways to maximise the “up-time” of each machine through enhanced cleaning or maintenance schedules.
5. Work in a clean, safe environment at all times. Monitor work area to ensure the workspace is safe and colleagues are following safe working practices.
6. Liaise with our preferred contractors as and when required to do so monitoring them through the PTW system while on site.
7. Carry out repairs and maintenance on buildings, their facilities and utilities, plus all site plant and equipment when required to do so.
8. Make clear recommendations to the Engineer Manager and Departmental Manager, where productivity gains can be made to reduce costs and improvements.
9. Optimise the use of company resources whilst complying with the company’s policies and procedures.

What are we looking for?

1. Electrical qualification with extensive additional mechanical ability/experience.
2. ONC or equivalent in Electrical/Mechanical.
3. PLC Programming/Diagnostic Knowledge.
4. Qualified to 17th edition wiring regulations.
5. Proven FMCG work experience.
6. Work with and install single/three phase electrical circuits.
7. Effective communication skills with confidence to challenge and question.
8. Flexible and self-motivated.
9. Positive attitude to work and a can-do attitude.
10. Ability to be logical and analytical.

Desirable skills/experience:

1. IOSH Certificate.
2. Knowledge of VFFM’s and weighing equipment.
