Job summary

East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician with an Electrical bias to join the Engineering Team at Colchester Hospital. You will perform repair, maintenance and installation of plant, equipment, systems and building fabric across Trust properties, including routine and emergency work.

The role involves planned preventive maintenance, fault finding, testing, and on-call out-of-hours work, with opportunities for development and on-going

Qualifications

  • Recognised trade apprenticeship completed with proven experience in non-routine maintenance of complex engineering plant and equipment.
  • Hold a BTEC HNC/diploma in Engineering or equivalent City and Guilds qualification.
  • Demonstrate ability to work safely and to Estates Department procedures on all works.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance duties on plant, equipment and building fabric across Trust properties.
  • Engage in planned preventive maintenance, testing, calibration, fault finding, and emergency response.
  • Identify, arrange procurement and replacement of defective parts up to £2k and support non-routine maintenance.

Job description

The East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) are looking for a talented and motivated Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician with Electrical bias to join the Engineering Team at its Colchester Hospital site. You will be responsible for carrying out the repair, maintenance and installation of plant, equipment, systems and building structure/fabric associated with all Trust properties. This will consist of Planned Preventative Maintenance, testing and calibration, fault finding, emergency response, defect correction and new works.,

  • Identify, arrange procurement and replacement of defective component parts and equipment on major items of engineering plant, cost effectively to the value of £2k.
  • You must have a multi-skilled approach to a wide range of work of other trades outside their core trade skills, and be able to undertake work in a safe and effective manner, complying with all relevant safety legislation and Estates Department safe working procedures on all works undertaken.
  • Carry out the full range of maintenance duties specific to their core trade as required, including non-routine, planned, corrective and breakdown maintenance tasks, this includes work on, or around, bedhead services and building fabric in wards and departments which will involve incidental patient contact.

If you have completed a recognised trade apprenticeship and hold a BTEC HNC/diploma in Engineering or equivalent City and Guilds qualification with proven experience in non-routine maintenance of complex engineering plant and equipment,and are looking for a challenging and varied role, we look forward to hearing from you. You will be required to participate in the emergency out-of-hours on-call rota and work a split-shift pattern, details of which will be discussed further at interview.
