Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking an Area Relief Officer to maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment across court and tribunal sites in Basildon, Southend and Chelmsford. You will oversee access control, monitor activity and respond to incidents to support staff and users.

Working 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, across sites within a defined radius. This daytime role involves operating CCTV and screening equipment, reporting incidents, and collaborating with the Courts & Tribunals Service

Qualifications

• Right to work in UK and enhanced DBS/BS7858 checks.
• Valid SIA licence and relevant security experience.
• Full UK driving licence and own vehicle.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Professional, reliable and detail-focused.
• Ability to work across multiple sites and adapt to priorities.
• Good understanding of security procedures and health & safety.
• Remain calm and effective in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Flex across multiple sites within a defined area.
• Provide professional, welcoming service to all court users.
• Control access and follow security procedures at all times.
• Operate CCTV, x-ray machines and handheld metal detectors.
• Conduct searches per site procedures.
• Patrol public and restricted areas and liaise with control points.
• Respond promptly to alarms, incidents and security concerns.
• Record and report all incidents accurately.
• Support safe movement of people within the building.
• Maintain high standards of professionalism and compliance.
