Job summary

First Bus is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee Bath and Wells depots on a full-time permanent basis. Reporting to the Senior General Manager, you will drive safe, punctual service and a customer-centric culture across multiple sites.

You will lead an engaged, high-performing team, ensure governance and compliance, and deliver agreed plans and budgets while continuously improving performance and stakeholder relations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure cost efficient delivery of a safe, punctual service.
• Dynamically analyse and manage information and data to improve service performance.
• Drive engagement with drivers, management and customers.
• Foster strong collaboration between operations, engineering and supervisory staff.
• Manage service delivery across Bath and Wells depots per policy and legislation.
• Deliver plans and budgets with defined service levels and quality.
• Plan staff for depot operating requirements and shift coverage.
• Maintain constructive relations with trade union representatives.
• Lead safety initiatives to reduce collisions and injuries.
• Oversee performance indicators and staff development, absence and compliance.
• Coordinate with operations, commercial and engineering teams for consistent customer experience.
• Liaise with external bodies to improve punctuality and lost miles.
• Act as Transport Manager as defined by the Traffic Commissioner.
