Job description

Description

We are looking for an outstanding and ambitious Multimedia Reporter to join our energetic News team in London.

The successful candidate will build strong relationships, investigate issues of interest to our target audience, and generate creative original stories that will help us set the news agenda both locally and across our national brands.

By working with Bauer, you will have the opportunity to create longer-form content, develop special investigations, and collaborate with a passionate team based across the UK. We tell stories from the perspective of people living them and the places where they happen, and we are authentic in our delivery.

You should ideally have a strong on-air voice to broadcast from the scene of breaking news and events with clarity and authority. You must have enthusiasm and a hunger to be the first on the scene. As a result, you will live in or near the news patch or be willing to relocate.

This role focuses on reporting and newsgathering, but there is also an opportunity to read news bulletins occasionally. Our work is multi-platform, so experience in on-camera work and understanding of digital media are advantages.

What you will do
  1. Produce multimedia content on multiple news stories for on-air, our website, and social media channels.
  2. Use sharp judgment to stay across the news agenda and react to breaking news in your patch.
  3. Report from the scene of news events across all platforms.
  4. Work with team members across England and the UK to maintain news diaries and plan ahead to enhance our news output.
  5. Secure exclusive, original stories targeted to our audience.
  6. Build strong, reliable contacts in your patch.
  7. Work reactively and proactively to ensure we are setting the news agenda locally and nationally.
What you will bring

You will deliver reports with authority and integrity, reacting to breaking news and uncovering original stories across various platforms.

You should have a recognized journalism qualification, a full driving license, and be able to work calmly and accurately, ensuring everything you broadcast or post on social media is legally sound, Ofcom-compliant, accurate, and balanced.

You will demonstrate a thorough understanding of modern audio/video broadcasting platforms and how they can help deliver news content to diverse audiences.

You should have knowledge of stories that resonate with our audiences.
