Syntax Consultancy Ltd is seeking a Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer for a permanent hybrid role near Derby. You will design and implement modern data pipelines and data models using Fabric, OneLake, Lakehouses, and related components.

The role requires hands-on MS Fabric experience with SQL, Spark, Python and Power BI; you will integrate diverse data sources, optimize performance and support migration from legacy systems. Start ideally Nov/Dec 2026.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on MS Fabric experience.
• Experience with SQL, Spark SQL and Python for data ingestion, transformation and modelling.
• Experience with Power BI for semantic models and data performance.
• Experience migrating from legacy data solutions or establishing new Data Engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and establish modern Data Engineering solutions using MS Fabric.
• Design and build secure, scalable data pipelines, dataflows and warehouses.
• Integrate multiple data sources and external APIs into Fabric-based pipelines.
• Migrate legacy data solutions or help establish new Fabric-based data platforms.

MS Fabric Data Engineer

Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer needed for a permanent full-time position based near Derby (Hybrid). Must have strong hands‑on MS Fabric experience.

Hybrid Working - 3 days/week working remotely from home + 2 days/week working from the office. The first 1-2 months will be full-time from the office to allow you to get to know the role + the team.

Responsibilities

• Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer needed to help develop + establish modern Data Engineering solutions.
• Strong hands on experience of Microsoft Fabric for designing + building secure, scalable Data Engineering solutions.
• Experience of core MS Fabric features including: OneLake, Lakehouses, Warehouses, Data Pipelines, Dataflows, Gen2, Notebooks, Eventstreams + Eventhouses.
• Using SQL, T-SQL, Spark SQL, PySpark + Python for data ingestion, data transformation, data optimisation, data modelling, and converting structured/unstructured source data into validatd Delta tables.
• Using Power BI for semantic models, data preparation + data performance.
• Integrating 3rd party APIs and a range of structured and unstructured data sources into Microsoft Fabric, including working with external suppliers + Microsoft partners.
• Experience of migrating from legacy data solutions, or helping to establish new Data Engineering solutions.
• Advantageous: MS Certified Fabric Data Engineer Associate, Medallion, Delta Lakes, Azure Data Factory, DevOps, IaC, CI/CD, Kusto Query Language (KQL), MS Purview, Key Vault, GenAI, + Agile Delivery.
