Job summary

Pick Everard is seeking a driven Cost Manager to join the Birmingham team. You will deliver cost management across education, healthcare and heritage projects, from feasibility through post-contract cost control, liaising with clients and stakeholders to ensure value and success.

The role requires a relevant qualification and CPD commitment, with MRICS preferred. We offer a supportive network, training and a structured path for career progression within a nationwide firm.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification and/or demonstrable experience in Cost Management within a consultancy.
• Experience managing projects across the built environment, including feasibility studies, detailed cost planning, and both pre- and post-contract cost management.
• Thorough understanding of the principal standard forms of building contracts, including JCT and NEC.
• Experience building and maintaining effective client relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong planning and organisational skills to manage day-to-day project programming and priorities.
• Excellent communication skills to produce high-quality reports and deliver engaging project presentations.
• MRICS qualification and Chartered Surveyor status.
• Commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and maintaining professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the successful delivery of projects across education, healthcare and heritage sectors (£5m–£250m).
• Preparing accurate cost estimates, bills of quantities, contract documentation and project reports.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships with a high standard of service and successful outcomes.
• Acting as a key point of contact for clients and managing projects from inception to completion.
• Managing day-to-day planning, programming and coordination of project activities.
• Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety policies, procedures and best practices.
