Job description

The successful candidates will need to demonstrate postgraduate experience in MRI. The ability to train and engage radiographers in MRI will be essential, as will the review and implementation of new scanning protocols in conjunction with Radiologists and ensuring all staff are aware of the new studies/procedures. A current awareness of MRI safety, especially with devices and implants, is also required.

Department Overview:

Since September 2021, the Diagnostic Imaging service at Barts Health has been devolved as a Group networked service under Clinical Services to individual hospital sites. We have created a sixth division for the growing services managed by RLH and MEH to ensure appropriate support and infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in the effective and safe operation of the MRI department
• Perform a wide range of specialist MRI scans during the extended hours 7-day service
• Supervise band 6 radiographers, imaging assistants, students, and visitors
• Manage patient flow for emergency and inpatient scans
• Protocol management and device checks
• Booking sedated and GA patients
• Liaising with radiologists and clinicians to resolve barriers to scanning
• Ensure high-quality patient care and experience
• Handle and diffuse potential complaints to ensure patient and carer satisfaction
• On-call and out-of-hours work is required
