The NHS is seeking candidates for a full-time MRI role in London, requiring postgraduate experience and the ability to train radiographers. The position involves supervising staff, managing patient flow, and ensuring safety protocols are followed in a busy MRI department.
Job summary
The successful candidates will need to demonstrate postgraduate experience in MRI. The ability to train and engage radiographers in MRI will be essential, as will the review and implementation of new scanning protocols in conjunction with Radiologists and ensuring all staff are aware of the new studies/procedures. A current awareness of MRI safety, especially with devices and implants, is required.
They should also have excellent organisational skills, be able to foster good working relationships with internal and external clients, be self-motivated, and able to motivate others within the team. The candidates will be required to work full-time on a rota covering Monday-Sunday, 08:00-20:00 shifts.
Key working relationships will include the Imaging site lead, MRI Modality Lead Radiographer, MRI Operational Lead, MRI Clinical Specialist, Radiologists, other MRI radiographers, Imaging Assistants, and other clinical and professional staff.
Diagnostic Imaging services at Barts Health were devolved as a Group networked service under Clinical Services to individual hospital sites in September 2021. After reviewing our current divisional functions, we have decided to create a sixth division for the growing services that RLH and MEH are responsible for, ensuring appropriate support and infrastructure.
The post-holder will participate in the effective and safe operation of the MRI department, performing a wide range of specialist MRI scans in the extended hours 7-day service. They will supervise band 6 radiographers, imaging assistants, students, and visitors. They will ensure patient flow within the trust by actively managing emergency and inpatient scans to facilitate same-day service. Responsibilities include prompt protocolling, checking devices, booking sedated and GA patients, liaising with radiologists and clinicians, and resolving barriers to scanning. The role requires dealing with and diffusing patient and carer complaints to ensure high-quality patient care. On-call/out-of-hours work is a requirement.
