1 year Fixed Term Maternity cover – 37.5 hours per week
We are looking for an MRI Operational Lead HCPC registered Radiographer to co-ordinate the MRI team at the RLH. This is a 1 year fixed term maternity cover.
The Royal London Hospital MRI Department is currently equipped with two Siemens 1.5T scanners (Sola and Avanto Fit) and one Siemens 3T VIDA scanner. Our 3T VIDA and 1.5T SOLA scanner were installed in 2022 and upgraded with the government funded acceleration software in 2024.This ensures that we continue to have current technology enabling us to provide world class imaging.
This post gives you the opportunity to use your clinical expertise in MRI to operationally run the MRI service at RLH. Applications are welcome from staff with accredited post graduate training in MRI and those who have previously been involved in the day to day running of an MRI service. Encouragement and mentoring will be given to the right candidate to develop leadership and improvement skills.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate post graduate experience in MRI and previous leadership experience. The ability to train and engage radiographers in MRI will be essential, as will the review and implementation of new scanning protocols in conjunction with Radiologists and ensuring all staff are aware of the new studies/procedures.
Main duties of the job
To lead the technical /radiographic staff, and to further develop an efficient MRI service for Royal London Hospital site.
To develop and maintain the MRI service, standardising protocols, managing the patient bookings and waiting lists, and managing the rotation of radiographers and imaging assistants throughout all areas.
To organise and oversee the training of radiographers and students in all aspects of MRI scanning, including comprehensive competency assessments.
To provide an effective operational lead radiographer role for the MRI service at the The Royal London Hospital site.
In conjunction with the MRI Managers, promote continuous improvements in service delivery and quality within all areas of the MRI service, using modern methods to improve productivity, leading in the delivery of service and workforce transformation, and re-design.
The Post-holder will manage the work of staff in the department and develop a culture in which members of staff are continuously improving the delivery of high quality services. The post-holder will ensure the development and acceptance of challenging but realistic objectives for staff and through leadership, motivation and systematic performance management, achieve the required results.
