MRI Lead Radiographer

Cherwell Hospital - Banbury

Full Time - 37.5 hours

The successful candidate will be a qualified Radiographer registered with the HCPC. You should have experience managing a team of Radiographers or be an existing Lead MRI Radiographer within the NHS or private healthcare in the UK. Demonstrating accountability, ownership of department development, and team management skills is essential. The role involves leading clinical aspects, training, competencies, QA, MRI safety investigations, and ensuring current practices and protocols are followed.

This opportunity suits someone eager to join an organization investing in facilities and staff, aiming to be part of a growing team. As the Lead, you will set high standards for patient experience, balancing clinical duties with operational responsibilities to ensure departmental excellence in conjunction with other diagnostic modalities.

Additional responsibilities include supporting the Imaging Services Manager through audits, financial reviews, budget setting, and staff resourcing. A flexible, enthusiastic approach and good priority management are vital. RPS training is desirable but not essential. Adherence to guidelines by the CQC, IR(ME)R, and other regulatory bodies is crucial for maintaining a safe patient environment.

Experience in a similar MRI environment is beneficial but not mandatory.

We are looking for someone who has:

• HCPC Registration
• A DCR or BSc (Hons) in radiography
• Minimum 2 years MRI experience
• 2 years’ experience managing radiography teams or as a Lead
• Flexibility and a dynamic approach
• Experience supervising and assisting radiographers
• Responsibility for MRI safety in line with local rules
• Leading departmental audits and QA programs
• Competency in IV cannulation
• Experience reviewing, updating, and implementing departmental policies
• Maintaining records as per statutory and organizational requirements

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Lead and teach the MRI service
• Prioritize workload based on clinical urgency when working alone
• Deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging services
• Proficiently use all equipment within scope of practice
• Collaborate with leading practitioners and utilize advanced practices and equipment
• Supervise and develop junior staff
• Ensure MRI safety compliance with local rules
• Work within IRMER guidelines and HCPC codes of conduct
• Participate in audits and QA programs
• Support the Clinical Lead Radiographers
• Ensure equipment safety and report faults according to policy
• Maintain records in line with requirements
• Participate in on-call duties (able to attend within one hour)
