Job summary

Canopius, a Lloyd's-listed global specialty lines (re)insurer, is seeking a Medical Professional Liability (MPL) underwriting analyst in London. You will support underwriting, develop pricing models, and handle data-driven analyses for both US and international MPL portfolios.

The role offers a clear development path, exposure to pricing and underwriting across multiple markets, and a hybrid working model from our City of London offices.

Qualifications

• High level of numeracy with an excellent record of academic achievement.
• Willingness to learn and develop expertise within the insurance market.
• Advanced Excel and/or programming skills and a strong desire to develop these further.
• Strong problem-solving skills; ability to apply knowledge to new problems and propose solutions.
• Organised work approach with clear documentation and audit trails.

Responsibilities

• Support MPL underwriting as directed by MPL team and senior management.
• Develop and improve the MPL rating model with pricing teams.
• Assist in pricing MPL risks for open market and delegated authorities (US and international).
• Harvest exposure and loss data and map to the rater to refine pricing and build the loss database.
• Maintain the loss database to enable meaningful analyses and industry reports.
• Assemble loss databases for different classes of business to assist actuaries in pricing.
