Job description

Mould Repair Engineer

Barnsley Plant

Role description

Repair and maintain glass bottle mould equipment to specifications to ensure that mould equipment meets production requirements.

Responsibilities:
  1. Comply with Company Health and Safety Procedures to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and those around you.
  2. Follow the department's working procedures and practices.
  3. Repair damaged and worn mould equipment to a high standard using various engineering techniques such as spray welding, polishing, grinding, filing, and machining.
  4. Read and interpret engineering drawings to ensure the repaired equipment meets the required specifications.
  5. Modify mould equipment to maintain quality standards.
  6. Carry out checks on mould equipment using visual and precision measuring techniques to ensure specifications are met.
  7. Record daily work on job sheets for accurate reference.
  8. Monitor housekeeping in accordance with Company Hygiene Rules.
Required skills / qualifications:
  • Time served apprenticeship with a formal engineering qualification.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good knowledge of bench fitting techniques such as drilling, filing, polishing, and grinding.
  • Flexible working approach.
  • Experience working with metals such as Steel, Cast Iron, and Nickel.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Competent with precision measuring equipment like micrometers.
  • Proficient with hand tools including air tools, files, and grinders.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • CNC turning experience (desirable).
  • Manual machine work (lathes/millers) (desirable).
  • Positive attitude towards teamwork and learning.

  • Salary based on Grade 6 of the harmonised pay scales, ranging from £31,658 to £37,806 depending on shift.
