Job Description:

Role Overview: We are seeking a Motorsports Sportscar Data Analyst to apply data science and modeling techniques to develop and refine race strategy tools, facilitating insightful pre-race planning and real-time strategy adjustments during live race events.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and refine AI/ML models for motorsports applications, including Python codebase enhancements.
2. Create simulation platforms for Monte Carlo and tire degradation analyses.
3. Design visualizations to effectively communicate insights, collaborating with IT and software teams for implementation.
4. Use race strategy tools to verify accuracy and identify areas for improvement, working with IMSA and WEC teams.
5. Analyze vehicle pace considering track conditions, traffic, and energy strategies.
6. Predict pace variations to aid session planning and strategy formulation.
7. Collaborate across GM teams to develop and support race strategy tools and models.
8. Co-develop race strategy software with data science and IT teams.
9. Apply analysis techniques to other racing series to validate and refine models.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
• 5+ years experience in top-level motorsports series (NASCAR, IMSA, F1, IndyCar, WEC, etc.), including 2+ years developing strategy tools.
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar programming languages.
• Knowledge of AI/ML techniques and industry applications.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to mentor others.
• Ability to travel within the US (~10%).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in a quantitative field.
• Experience in tire modeling, simulation workflows, and machine learning libraries.
• Knowledge of big data tools (Hadoop, Spark, SQL, NoSQL).
