Job Description

This role is categorized as hybrid, requiring reporting to Concord, NC at least three times per week, with flexibility for weekend race events.

The Role

We are seeking a Motorsports Sportscar Data Analyst to apply data science and modeling techniques to develop race strategy tools, aiding pre-race planning and live race decision-making.

What You’ll Do

1. Refine existing AI/ML models for Sportscars, updating Python code and reimagining where necessary.
2. Develop platforms for Monte Carlo simulations.
3. Create tire degradation models for accurate predictions.
4. Design visualizations to convey insights, prototyping and collaborating with IT for implementation.
5. Verify and improve race strategy tools, collaborating with IMSA and WEC teams.
6. Resolve vehicle pace from various factors like track migration and energy strategies.
7. Predict pace variations to inform strategy.
8. Collaborate across GM and motorsports teams to develop and support race strategy tools.
9. Co-develop race strategy software with data science and IT teams.
10. Apply analysis techniques across different racing series for validation and refinement.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
• 5+ years in top-level motorsports series with 2+ years developing strategy tools.
• Knowledge of motorsports race strategy and analysis during live events.
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar.
• Familiarity with AI/ML modeling techniques.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with a detail-oriented and forward-thinking approach.
• Ability to travel within the US up to 10%.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related field.
• Knowledge of tire modeling and simulation workflows.
• Experience with machine learning libraries and big data tools.
