Job summary

McLaren Racing is seeking a Motorsport Technician to work with the Lead Technician in a dedicated build bay, assembling new vehicles to the build plan and McLaren quality standards.

You will handle chassis composites reworks, build and prepare McLaren Motorsport cars to exact specifications, and be accountable for the car and sub-assemblies. This role requires experience in low-volume motorsport production and a collaborative team player mindset.

Qualifications

• Experience of working within a low volume vehicle production / motorsport build environment essential.
• Experience of composite trimming, grinding, and drilling to high standards.
• Base level understanding of the differences between track-based cars and road-based vehicles.
• Value added experience in vehicle manufacturing practices.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and execution of chassis composite reworks prior to car build as required.
• Build and preparation of McLaren Motorsport cars to the required specification.
• Accountable for build and preparation of the car and respective sub-assemblies
• Understand and follow detailed work instructions relating to the assembling of motorsport vehicles.
• Ensure that all build operations on each vehicle are completed to the required quality standards.
• Work as part of a team on the definition and solution of problems that may affect quality, cost or productivity.
• Support development and launch into production future McLaren Motorsport vehicle platforms and variants.
• Support with the development of vehicle assembly processes for all assembly disciplines
• Support the team and wider business functions to ensure all quality targets are correctly specified and achieved.
• Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work alongside Product Design Engineering team in identifying resolutions for product related issues during pre-production build phases.
