Job summary

McLaren Automotive is seeking a Motorsport & Event Technician to join a small team delivering Pure McLaren Experiences and track-side support for our McLaren Trophy and GT World Challenge cars. You will prepare vehicles for events, follow established procedures, diagnose faults, and support on-site setups and customer events.

You will also help develop processes at HQ and during events to maintain high standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in a highly technical engineering function within motorsport.
• Ability to interpret engineering specifications and drawings.
• Experience contributing to car component fault diagnosis process.
• Strong understanding of Motorsport GT programs and related vehicle systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicles for Pure McLaren Experiences or Track events on time.
• Follow approved vehicle preparation procedures and ensure work is on schedule.
• Ensure vehicles are fit for purpose and well-presented.
• Collaborate with Technician team to improve processes at HQ and at events.
• Prepare cars, support equipment and future projects for events.
• Provide on-event support including car operation and technical queries.

What to Expect

As a Motorsport & Event Technician you will be working as part of a small team in providing a crucial service for our Pure McLaren Experiences and Motorsport track cars including McLaren Trophy race support.

The Technician role will be responsible for conducting and completing the maintenance, repairs and running of P1 GTR, Senna GTR, GT3X, and Solus GT. The role will involve working across multiple functions such as car sub-assemblies, individual car components and associated support equipment on site or whilst at events.

What You'll Do

• Accountable for the preparation of any vehicle needed for a Pure McLaren Experience or Track event.
• Follow the approved Pure McLaren Experience vehicle preparation procedures and ensure that work is completed on schedule
• Ensure vehicles are fit for purpose and suitably presented
• Work with the wider Technician team to continually develop processes both at headquarters and whilst on events
• Responsible for the preparation of cars, support equipment and future projects

On Event:

• Event set up support which may include event preparation garage builds and hospitality set up for all event programs
• Attend customer track event programs and be able to support running of the car in the role as a Number 1 mechanic.
• Technically communicate to customers and answer any service or specific technical questions as required
• Technical support for McLaren Trophy series supporting GT World Challenge.

What You'll Bring

• Experience of working in a highly technical engineering function
• Ability to interpret engineering specifications and drawings
• Ability to contribute to car component fault diagnosis process
• Experience and strong understanding of Motorsport GT programs, McLaren Ultimate Track vehicles and LM Prototype or similar vehicles, systems and components.
• Previous experience of working in a motorsport environment
• Experience in using Monaco DTS, Life Racing and Bosch Motorsport diagnostic and data toolsets.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
