Job summary

Weightmans is recruiting a Paralegal to manage a caseload of recovery cases for the Motor Recoveries team in Liverpool. The role requires experience with motor/litigated claims and a flexible approach to tasks, with the ability to meet deadlines and work as part of a team.

You will ensure compliance with client SLAs, data protection procedures, and internal policies while contributing to efficient case handling and settlements.

Qualifications

• Experience with motor claims and litigated files, preferably small claims and fast track.
• Knowledge of CPR and court procedures is desirable.
• Ability to meet deadlines and targets, work in a team or independently.

Responsibilities

• Manage caseload of recovery cases for motor recoveries.

• Handle cases to conclusion, including court actions and instructing Counsel.

Accidents involving motor vehicles give rise to countless claims and legal actions, affecting every kind of business and non-commercial organisation and their insurers. The sheer volume of cases, and the constant possibility of major costs and resources being involved, can impact seriously on the operational performance of any of the parties involved.

What is needed most in this situation is a service that can help process cases with maximum speed and efficiency and achieve the most satisfactory settlements possible. Weightmans' Motor team is a market leader in this field offering a full service with dedicated teams dealing with fast track, multi track, fraud, credit hire, indemnity issues and representation at inquests and criminal prosecutions.

We are currently recruiting for aParalegal to manage a caseload of recovery cases for the Motor Recoveries team inLiverpool.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Manage caseload effectively and efficiently
• Initially review liability and quantum before devising a strategy for continued handling;
• Handle cases to conclusion including making P36 offers, issuing court proceedings and instructing Counsel;
• Complete client and firm MI procedures
• Comply with client SLAs, e-manual and local claims handling requirements
• Achieve set chargeable hours and financial targets
• Comply with Data Protection Procedures

As a Paralegal you will also ensure that you comply with the relevant Weightmans and client policies and procedures, and consistently work in accordance with our values.

About You

Ideally, you will have some experience of dealing with motor/litigated claims and a genuine interest in the above area of work. As the role is varied, we are looking for you to have a flexible approach to the work you do and be able to adapt to different tasks. It would be preferable for you to have:

• Experience of handling/assisting a case load of litigated motor files, within the small claims and fast track, preferably as a Claimant
• Knowledge of CPR
• Ability to work to meet deadlines and hit targets
• Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
• Excellent communication skills
