Responsibilities
- Work to develop and maintain a growing portfolio of MND clinical trials and support the systems, procedures and teams involved in the delivery of MND clinical trials.
- Maintain an effective working relationship with the MND Association, NIHR Regional Research Delivery Networks, and the MND Association Lead Research Nurse; be part of the Research Delivery Team in Southampton with oversight of the MND clinical trials portfolio locally and managing recruitment within a regional, collaborative strategy.
- Provide high-quality coordinated research care for individuals diagnosed with MND and their caregivers, guided by a Care & Research Centre/Network consultant neurologist with specialised expertise in MND.
- Provide leadership, support, training and education for the trials team, supported by the senior nursing and management teams and Principal Investigators; directly manage patients on clinical trials.
- Collaborate with the MND Association Lead Research Nurse, UHS Senior Research Nurses and Matrons, the MND Association and NIHR Regional Research Delivery Networks, the Head of Nursing and R&D infrastructure to ensure effective trial delivery.
- Demonstrate excellent leadership, liaise, negotiate and influence within an open plan office environment, where there may be distractions.
- Coordinate with the post holder to accommodate participant visits and study protocol timings; travel to meetings locally, regionally and nationally; and provide home or off-site visits as appropriate to meet personalised research needs.
Qualifications
- Senior Research Nurse with significant experience in delivering interventional clinical research trials.
- Experience in delivering MND trials is ideal; strong attention to detail and ability to relay complex information to colleagues and patients.
- Excellent leadership skills and ability to liaise, negotiate and influence.
- This is an on-site role with flexibility to accommodate participant visits and study protocol timings; ability to travel to meetings locally, regionally and nationally.
