Allianz UK is seeking a Motor Fleet Existing Business Assistant Underwriter in Birmingham. The role blends office and home-based work, with strong emphasis on customer service, underwriting renewals, and cross-department collaboration to meet KPIs.

The position offers learning through our P&C Academy and external study support, with hybrid working options and a competitive salary package.

Role Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Motor Fleet Existing Business Assistant Underwriter to join our established and successful Motor Fleet team in Birmingham.

This opportunity is ideal for either a new entrant or those with experience in the insurance industry who are keen to gain and develop their technical expertise.

You will play an active role in contributing towards the delivery of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across your team, underwriting business & building strong relationships with both internal & external customers.

This is a hybrid role will involve working from home combined with a minimum of 2-3 days per week in our Birmingham office.

Salary Information

Pay: Circa £30,000 – £35,000 per year.

Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

About You

Your role will vary day to day, but here is a bit of what you can expect:

• Providing excellent service to our customers.
• Handle general customer queries via the telephoneor email within agreed service standards.
• Underwrite renewals and mid-term adjustments.
• Negotiate within authority, referring where appropriate to maximize customer retention.
• Anticipate likely objections and build effective responses.
• To collaborate strongly with other departments to achieve the Company's goals in respect of service delivery.
• Develop your technical underwriting capability through learning, feedback and exposure to experienced Underwriters

Essential Skills

We don't expect you to know everything from day one, but the following will enable you to hit the ground running:

• Passionate about your own development.
• Good numerical, written and verbal communication (including telephony) skills are essential.
• You should be confident handling, analysing and interpreting data.
• You must enjoy interacting with others, building strong internal and external relationships and have excellent communication skills.
• Practical knowledge of MS Office and MS Outlook.

Desirable Skills

• Motor Fleet or Commercial Underwriting experience
• Responsible Artificial Intelligence usage
