Job summary

MPJ Recruitment is seeking a Motor Damage Estimator for a well-established vehicle engineering and accident damage assessment client in Manchester City Centre. The role involves assessing accident-damaged vehicles and providing accurate technical recommendations to support claims and repairs.

The position is office-based initially with hybrid working available, Monday to Friday 9:00am–5:00pm, offering a £40,000 per annum salary.

Qualifications

• ATA VDA, IMI, IAEA or AQP qualifications.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle construction, repair techniques and modern automotive technology.
• Experience assessing accident damage and determining repair requirements.
• Working knowledge of Audatex and Glassmatix estimating platforms.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing vehicle damage and determining appropriate repair methodologies.
• Producing accurate repair estimates, valuations and engineering assessments.
• Creating technical reports using Audatex and Glassmatix.
• Collaborating with insurers, repairers and customers to ensure cases progress smoothly.
• Reviewing repair proposals and negotiating viable outcomes.
• Managing a portfolio of assessments with high accuracy and productivity.
• Ensuring decisions and reports comply with industry standards and procedures.

Are you an experienced Motor Engineer, Vehicle Damage Estimator, Automotive Assessor or Bodyshop Engineer looking for a position where your technical knowledge can make a real difference?

MPJ Recruitment is working exclusively with a well-established and highly regarded specialist within the vehicle engineering and accident damage assessment sector. As the business continues to expand, they are looking to appoint an experienced Motor Vehicle Engineer to join their technical team in Manchester.

The Opportunity

Working as part of the engineering function, you'll be responsible for assessing accident-damaged vehicles and providing accurate technical recommendations to support the claims and repair process.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

• Reviewing vehicle damage and determining appropriate repair methodologies.
• Producing accurate repair estimates, valuations and engineering assessments.
• Creating comprehensive technical reports using Audatex and Glassmatix.
• Working closely with insurers, repairers and customers to ensure cases progress smoothly.
• Reviewing repair proposals and negotiating appropriate and commercially viable outcomes.
• Managing an individual portfolio of assessments while maintaining high levels of accuracy and productivity.
• Ensuring engineering decisions and reports comply with relevant industry standards and internal procedures.
• Applying your technical knowledge to assess modern vehicle repair requirements and accident damage.

What We're Looking For

We're keen to speak with experienced automotive professionals who have a strong technical understanding of vehicle repair and accident damage.

You could currently be working as a:

• Vehicle Damage Assessor
• Motor Engineer
• Motor Engineer Assessor
• Automotive Engineer
• Bodyshop Estimator / VDA
• Independent Vehicle Assessor
• Accident Damage Assessor

Ideally, you'll also have:

• Relevant ATA VDA, IMI, IAEA or AQP qualifications.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle construction, repair techniques and modern automotive technology.
• Previous experience assessing accident damage and determining repair requirements.
• Working knowledge of Audatex and Glassmatix estimating platforms.
• Good Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
• A methodical approach with excellent attention to detail.
