Job summary

Perfect Placement UK Ltd are recruiting for an experienced MOT Tester in Trowbridge, a busy centre within a leading UK automotive tyre and fast-fit group. The role focuses on MOT testing to government standards, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality and customer service.

The successful candidate will hold an active Class 4 and 7 MOT licence, a UK driving licence with minimal points, and ideally IMI/NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct MOT tests in accordance with Government standards and regulations.
• Explain results and required repairs to customers clearly.
• Support customers through the process and build long-lasting relationships.
• Identify vehicle issues and assist with repair and service work as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections and communicate with workshop colleagues.
• Ensure the workshop operates safely and efficiently.
• Assist with additional duties as required.

Duties of a MOT Tester

• Conduct MOT tests in strict accordance with Government standards and regulations
• Provide exceptional customer service by explaining results, repairs needed, and reasons for testing outcomes
• Support customers through the process and foster long-lasting relationships
• Identify and diagnose vehicle issues, supporting the team with repair and service work where applicable
• Maintain accurate records of inspections and communicate effectively with workshop colleagues
• Ensure the workshop operates efficiently and in compliance with safety standards
• Support the workshop team with additional duties as required

Requirements of a MOT Tester

• Hold an active Class 4 and 7 MOT testing licence
• Possess a UK driving licence with minimal points
• Ideally qualified to IMI/NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent
• Alternatively, extensive vehicle mechanic experience with an active MOT licence
• Excellent communication skills and team-oriented attitude
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain high standards of work
