Job description

A MOT & Diagnostic Technician is a member of the Aftersales Team and will report to the Aftersales Manager. The Diagnostic Technician will perform a variety of workshop work in an efficient and safe manner. The aim is to meet customer requirements and maximise workshop utilisation and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Undertake routine servicing of vehicles in accordance with brand technical standards.
• Undertake Class IV MOT tests.
• Perform diagnostic investigations into vehicle electrical system faults, providing reports on faults found.
• Diagnose and undertake general repairs to vehicles including MOT repairs.
• Undertake air-conditioning system servicing and repairs.
• Undertake welding repairs to vehicles.
• Work in accordance with brand and dealership processes.
• Obtain estimates and order car parts in order to resolve vehicle issues.
• Ensure that their immediate working environment is kept clean and devoid of any working practice which may be hazardous to either themselves or others.
• Handle waste products and hazardous materials as per company policies and C.O.S.H.H. regulations.
• Liaise with customers where appropriate updating them on the status of their vehicle checks.
• Able to assimilate information quickly and diagnose the faults.
• Strong work ethic and adaptable to change.
• Attention to detail and maintains good, accurate quality of work.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines to achieve the business needs.
• Able to communicate and work in a team.

Essential & Desirable Skills & Qualifications

• Fluent written and spoken English.
• PC, Microsoft, web literate.
• Proven track record of individual excellence.
• Previous vehicle knowledge and proven skills.
• Relevant City & Guilds, BTEC or NVQ accreditation.
• Previous work experience in a franchise dealership.
• Highly skilled in fault diagnosis.
• Commitment to delivering first class customer service.
• F-Gas trained with certificate.
