Job summary

Coventry City Council is seeking a MOSAIC BI & Insight Analyst / Data Analyst to support Performance and Planning. This role focuses on extracting, analysing and reporting on data from MOSAIC and social care systems, delivering Power BI dashboards to inform decisions.

The candidate will work with Adult and/or Children’s Social Care data, validate outputs, and collaborate with developers and stakeholders to implement improvements within a short-term contract, hybrid in Coventry.

MOSAIC BI & Insight Analyst / Data Analyst

Location: Coventry City Council, Friargate, Coventry
Contract: 4 months
Working arrangement: Hybrid – 2 days per week in the Coventry office
Daily rate: Competitive / flexible

About the Role

Coventry City Council is seeking an experienced MOSAIC BI & Insight Analyst / Data Analyst to support its Performance and Planning Directorate. This is an excellent opportunity for a data specialist with strong local authority experience and a background in Adult and/or Children’s Social Care reporting.

The successful candidate will use their technical expertise to extract, analyse and interpret complex data, producing accurate reports and Power BI dashboards to support service performance, operational planning and informed decision-making.

Hands-on MOSAIC experience is essential, particularly in data extraction and reporting. The successful candidate must be comfortable working with existing developers and stakeholders, picking up partially developed reports and delivering improvements within a short-term contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Extract, analyse and interpret data from MOSAIC and other social care systems.


• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports and data visualisations.


• Use SQL to query, combine and manipulate datasets for reporting and analysis.


• Produce statutory, financial, operational and performance reports.


• Work with Adult and/or Children’s Social Care datasets to identify trends and service performance.


• Pick up, complete and improve existing reports and reporting solutions.


• Validate data and quality-assure reporting outputs to ensure accuracy and reliability.


• Work closely with service managers, developers and other stakeholders to understand reporting requirements.


• Present findings and insights clearly to support operational and strategic decisions.


• Maintain appropriate data security, confidentiality and information governance standards.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Proven, hands-on experience using MOSAIC, particularly for data extraction and reporting.


• Strong SQL skills and experience working with complex datasets.


• Excellent Power BI skills, including dashboard and report development.


• Experience working with Adult and/or Children’s Social Care data.


• Previous local authority or local government experience.


• Experience producing statutory, financial or operational reports.


• Strong data analysis, validation and problem-solving skills.


• Ability to work independently, collaborate with existing teams and deliver reporting solutions to tight deadlines.


• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data and findings to non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable

• Experience with Microsoft Excel and Power BI Report Builder.


• Knowledge of local authority performance frameworks and statutory reporting requirements.


• Experience improving existing reporting processes and data quality.
