Qualifications

• GCSE-level literacy and numeracy required.
• Evidence of relevant professional development.
• Previous experience in healthcare or a hospital environment.
• Awareness of the Human Tissue Act and Human Tissue Authority requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the effective day-to-day operation of the hospital mortuary.
• Maintain high standards of care, dignity and respect for deceased patients.
• Carry out routine mortuary activities under supervision.
• Assist senior mortuary staff with departmental duties.
• Ensure compliance with Human Tissue Authority regulations and relevant procedures.
• Provide guidance to clinicians and other mortuary visitors.
• Communicate sensitively with bereaved relatives and friends.
• Maintain accurate records and follow departmental procedures.
• Collaborate with colleagues across hospital sites as required.
• Demonstrate compassion, professionalism and confidentiality in sensitive situations.
