Job summary

Percom Financial Services Limited in South Croydon is seeking a self-employed Mortgage & Protection Advisor to provide regulated mortgage and protection advice to a diverse client base, including first-time buyers and buy-to-let investors. You will conduct detailed fact-finds, assess affordability and risk, source products from a wide lender panel, and present compliant recommendations.

You’ll manage your own client pipeline, handle the end-to-end process, and build local referral relationships

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge and experience in residential and buy-to-let mortgages.
• Expertise in financial planning, affordability assessment and risk.
• Proficiency in mortgage marketing, client acquisition and local promotion.
• CeMAP or FCA-recognised qualification for regulated UK mortgage advice.
• Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
• Ability to work independently in a self-employed capacity.
• Prior experience in mortgage & protection roles is beneficial.
• Familiarity with FCA regulations and lender criteria is advantageous.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in South Croydon for a self-employed Mortgage & Protection Advisor. The role involves providing regulated mortgage and protection advice to clients, including first-time buyers, home movers, remortgage customers, buy-to-let investors, and property developers. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting detailed fact-finds, assessing client affordability and risk, sourcing suitable mortgage and protection products from a wide lender panel, and presenting clear, compliant recommendations. The advisor will manage their own client pipeline, handle applications from initial enquiry through to completion, and maintain accurate records in line with regulatory requirements. The role also includes building and nurturing referral relationships, engaging in local marketing activities, and delivering a high standard of customer service and ongoing client review.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong knowledge and experience in Mortgages and Finance, including residential and buy-to-let products.
• Candidates should possess expertise in Financial Planning, with the ability to assess affordability, risk, and long-term client objectives.
• Candidates should possess skills in Mortgage Marketing, including client acquisition, networking, and local promotional activities.
• Candidates should be CeMAP qualified (or equivalent FCA-recognised qualification) and able to provide regulated mortgage advice in the UK.
• Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication, client relationship management, and negotiation skills.
• Candidates should have strong attention to detail, compliance awareness, and the ability to work independently in a self-employed capacity.
• Previous experience as a Mortgage & Protection Advisor or in a similar financial services role is highly beneficial.
• Familiarity with FCA regulations, lender criteria, and insurance products (life, critical illness, income protection, and general insurance) is advantageous.
