Job summary

Historic Environment Scotland in Dumfries is seeking a Labouring Driver for the Dumfries Depot Monument Conservation Unit. You will support stonemasons with labouring tasks and transport staff and materials to various sites within the Dumfries area.

You may also work at other monuments within the South Region from time to time. The role requires driving to site locations, maintaining equipment, and upholding health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of traditional building crafts and lime mortars.
• Experience with COSHH and risk management.
• Experience of working on construction sites.
• Experience with general labouring practices.
• Maintenance of small plant and equipment.
• Full UK driving licence or eligibility to convert.

Responsibilities

• Provide semi-skilled labour to support stonemasons in conservation duties.
• Transport staff, plant and materials between sites from the depot.
• Maintain presentation and cleanliness of sites and properties.
• Keep small plant/equipment in good condition.
• Assist with surveys and works inspections.
• Ensure health & safety awareness for all staff and public.
• Attend training courses when required, including overnight stays.
